What do FX Trading, Photography and researching The Paranormal have in common?

Well as far as I can work out, absolutely nothing!

Having said that, these 3 things that are poles apart, fascinate me on a daily basis.  Maybe The Blonde Trader is just plain weird – you tell me….

I have a good friend in the UK who is both a professional and very successful Trader (FX, Shares etc) and his other main interests are also researching The Paranormal…. and he’s a semi-pro Photographer…. But he’s not blonde, in fact, he’s bald.

I want to mention a couple of things on The Paranormal in this post – firstly, so that you don’t all get bored with constant references to my FX Trading journey – and you are going to hear plenty about that as time marches on.  Secondly, the Paranormal is a pretty mind blowing subject once you start to research it properly and one that we may (or may not) wonder about in depth at some stage of our lives.

At some point we will all die and so will every person and animal that we have ever known.  If we find out that life has unbroken continuity, does that give us a new perspective?  For example, the mainstream news screams from the headlines one morning, “Quantum Science Proves We All Survive Death”.  Would you read or watch the news that day?

A couple of things I will mention to set the record straight before I waffle on about the Spooks.  I am not religious; I do not attend church (unless it’s one of those rather attractive, ancient quaint buildings that are scattered throughout the UK and occasionally within Australia and NZ).  They hold a peaceful realm for me – more on that another time.

I don’t believe every person’s ghost story or every “strange” experience that I come across.  I have an analytical, enquiring mind. I want objective evidence.  I want to ask questions until I am satisfied, as much as I can be, that something is possibly real…. And what’s real?  Oh sorry I am digressing somewhat.  If you are still reading this you then you must have an open mind or a lot of patience.  Of course the ultimate is to experience something for yourself, over and over again. That will instill belief.  Oh there you go, there’s a connection between FX Trading and The Paranormal!

When you Trade you have to instill belief that your Trading Strategy works – as long as it really is working most of the time (and you do have at least a few Trading Strategies don’t you?? And you have back-tested them haven’t you????  If you see something working consistently, you will then develop a belief in it. It will become part of your expectation.

Well, The Paranormal is a bit like that too.  I want scientific evidence. I have been interested in the Paranormal since childhood.  It wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s that I found out that the study of the Afterlife is linked to Quantum Physics.  It’s a branch of Sub-Atomic Physics – not hippie mumbo jumbo.

There is a branch of Mediumship called Physical Mediumship – it’s as rare as Hen’s Teeth.  I attended a number of Physical Séances (just like my successful Trading friend in the UK).  They are confronting and they will change your paradigm. They make you sit up and realize that “There are more things in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in your philosophy” – just thought I’d chuck of bit of Shakespeare in there. In the past, eminent top Physicists have attended Physical Séances ; Sir Oliver Lodge and Sir William Crookes, Thomas Edison (he invented the light globe), John Logie Baird (he invented the TV set), Lord Dowding (Air Chief Marshall for the Battle of Britain), Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (wrote Sherlock Holmes) – they all attended Physical Séances and wrote books on them.  Many modern day Scientists are also researching this subject including Nobel Prize Winner Professor Brian Josephson.

Currently my reading material at night before I go off to the Land of Nod is a book by Professor David Fontana called “Is there an Afterlife”.  On the bus trip to work, I read something that if you want to Trade successfully you must read until you have mastered it – “Trading in the Zone” by Mark Douglas.  Don’t even think about using your real money to Trade unless you read that book first (along with risk management and proven strategies).  More on this another time.

Right now, The Blonde Trader is off to have a nice buttery Chardonnay.
